Buying Medical Marijuana Under Amendment 2
If you are approved for an ID card, you will receive it in the mail within 30 days of application and it can be used to legally purchase marijuana from any licensed dispensary in the state. New legislature greatly expanded the number of licensed dispensaries and there are numerous choices near you such as Knox Medical in Fort Lauderdale and Compassionate Care Clinics of Jacksonville in Pompano Beach. Once you have located a dispensary, simply go in and show them your ID and tell them more about your medical condition and goals for using marijuana in your treatment plan. The knowledgeable staff will help you choose the right types, strains, and doses of medical marijuana for your needs. Under Florida law, smoking marijuana is still illegal, but you may purchase it in forms such as pills, edibles, or topical solutions.
Those who are residents of Lighthouse Point and believe that medical marijuana treatment may be right for them should schedule an appointment with a licensed doctor who can answer any questions and help them begin the qualification process.
Qualifying for Medical Marijuana Under Amendment 2
To benefit from Amendment 2, you must be at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of Florida. You must also have one of the conditions that can legally be treated with marijuana under Florida state law. These include Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s, ALS, and post-traumatic stress disorder. You must also receive a written recommendation from a licensed medical marijuana doctor in the state. To get this recommendation, you have to meet with the doctor in person and allow him or her to thoroughly examine your health history and medical records. If the doctor determines you have one of the qualifying conditions and that you have made other attempts to treat the condition, he or she can then issue the recommendation. This is needed to apply for a state-issued ID card with the Florida Department of Health.
