Qualifying for Medical Marijuana
Florida is one of 30 U.S. states to make medical marijuana legal for those who qualify. To legally purchase and use cannabis, you must be over 18, a legal resident of the state, and have a qualifying medical conditions such as ALS, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, or epilepsy. Certain other similar conditions may also qualify. If the doctor believes you would make a good medical marijuana patient, he or she will issue a written recommendation that must be included with your application for an ID card with the Florida Department of Health. Your card is needed to legally purchase marijuana in the state.
